One of Zheng’s most notable discoveries is the Critical Gelation Point (CGP) of SiO2 sols. He found that SiO2 sols below the CGP, when mixed with appropriate polymers, can create VOC-compliant hybrid coatings. This approach allows for the development of hybrid materials with extremely low organic solvent content, contributing to sustainable material development and reducing environmental impact.
