Dr. Azza Hassoon has built an impressive academic career in inorganic chemistry. She earned her B.Sc. in Chemistry from Mansoura University, Egypt (2008-2012), graduating with excellent honors (85.52%). Her passion for chemistry led her to complete an M.Sc. in Inorganic Chemistry at Mansoura University (2013-2016), where she gained in-depth knowledge of metal complexes and their applications. She further advanced her expertise by obtaining a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Szeged, Hungary (2019-2023), where she again received excellent honors, showcasing her outstanding research capabilities.

Dr. Hassoon has been an integral part of Mansoura University’s Chemistry Department since 2012. She started her career as a Demonstrator (2012-2016), assisting in laboratory instruction and academic activities. Her dedication and expertise earned her a promotion to Assistant Lecturer (2016-2023), where she played a crucial role in both teaching and research. In August 2023, she was further elevated to Lecturer, a position she currently holds, continuing to inspire students and contribute to cutting-edge research in inorganic chemistry.

Dr. Hassoon has been honored with several prestigious awards and recognitions throughout her career. She was selected for the Visiting Summer School at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) in Russia in 2015, organized by JINR-ASRT. In 2016, she was awarded a Visiting Scholar position at Brigham Young University, USA, where she collaborated with the renowned Harrison Research Group. She also secured the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship, which supported her Ph.D. at the University of Szeged, Hungary, from 2019 to 2023. Additionally, she has received travel awards from prestigious conferences, including the International Conference on Metal-Binding Peptides (MBP) in France (2022) and the 16th International Symposium on Applied Bioinorganic Chemistry (ISABC) in Greece (2023). A crowning achievement in her career is the International Chemistry Scientist Award 2024 for Best Researcher in Metallodrug Research, recognizing her groundbreaking contributions to the field.

Dr. Hassoon is actively involved in several prestigious scientific organizations. She was a member of the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry (RSEQ) from 2021 to 2022. She later joined the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) as an Affiliate Member (2021-2023) and has been a Full Member (MRSC) since 2023.
