🎓 Education and Academic Journey

Dr. Monika Dezortova pursued her undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University, Prague, from 1988 to 1993. She specialized in Physics of Molecular and Biological Systems – Biophysics, with her thesis titled Optimization of the pulse sequences for the measurement of the brain proton MR spectra. This work marked her early engagement with magnetic resonance (MR) spectroscopy. Continuing her academic path, she completed her Ph.D. at the 3rd Faculty of Medicine of Charles University, Prague, between 1993 and 2000. Her doctoral research, In vivo 1H MR spectroscopy of metabolically important compounds in the human body: Phenylketonuria, focused on applying MR spectroscopy in clinical settings.

Monika has accumulated extensive experience throughout her career. From 1993 to 1996, she worked as a Researcher at the MR unit, Faculty Hospital Kralovske Vinohrady, Prague, specializing in in vivo 1H MR spectroscopy. Since 1997, she has served as a Senior Researcher at the MR unit of the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at the Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine (IKEM), Prague, where she focuses on MR spectroscopy in clinical applications. From 2005 to 2011, she worked as a Researcher at the Center for Cell Therapy and Tissue Repair. Between 2015 and 2019, she was an External Researcher at the National Institute of Mental Health, Klecany, and since 2019, she has held a similar role at Motol University Hospital, Prague.

Monika holds a Certificate of Professional Competence for designing experiments and experimental projects under Section 15e (1) of Act No 246/1992 Coll., on the Protection of Animals against Cruelty.
