Dr. Mohd Faheem Khan holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Dr. RML Avadh University, Faizabad, India, where his doctoral thesis focused on “Phytochemical Investigation of Indian Medicinal Plants in search of Bioactive Compounds.” He carried out his research under the supervision of Dr. Rakesh Maurya, Chief Scientist, MPC Division, CDRI, Lucknow. Following this, he pursued Postdoctoral Research in Chemistry at HNB Garhwal University and Lucknow University, expanding his expertise in natural product chemistry and advanced molecular studies. He also completed his M.Sc. in Chemistry with first division from Lucknow University.

Teaching Experience

Dr. Khan is currently serving as an Associate Professor of Chemistry at the Department of Biotechnology, Era University, Lucknow. He teaches undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. coursework classes, contributing to the development of future scientists. Earlier, he worked as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Era University, where he actively taught and guided research activities. He has also served as a Postdoctoral Faculty Equivalent to Assistant Professor at Lucknow University and HNB Garhwal Central University, teaching both B.Sc. and M.Sc. courses, conducting practicals, and handling examination duties.

Research Experience

Dr. Khan is actively involved in teaching and research at the Department of Chemistry and Biotechnology, Era Medical College & Hospital, Era University, Lucknow. He worked as a Dr. D.S. Kothari Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Lucknow University under the mentorship of Prof. Sudha Jain, focusing on the synthesis of natural product-based receptors with anion recognition and transportation properties. At HNB Garhwal Central University, under Prof. D.S. Negi, he investigated herbal antidiabetic agents from unexplored plants of the Uttarakhand Himalaya. His early research experience includes roles as a Senior Research Fellow and Junior Research Fellow at the MPC Division, CDRI Lucknow, where he worked extensively on bioactive natural compounds. He also gained industry experience as a Trainee Research Associate at Jubilant Chemsys Pvt. Ltd., Noida, focusing on the synthesis of biologically important lead molecules.

Research Interests

Dr. Khan’s research spans multiple domains, with a strong focus on Natural Product Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, and Computational Chemistry. His laboratory specializes in bioassay-guided extraction and isolation of secondary metabolites, structure elucidation using NMR, MS, and X-ray techniques, and quantification of marker compounds in herbal formulations through UHPLC, LC-MS/MS, and GC-MS/MS. He is also engaged in green chemistry approaches and nanotechnology for developing advanced herbal formulations. On the computational side, his expertise includes molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulation, pharmacophore modeling, DFT studies, and quantum theory of atoms applied to natural molecules.
