🎓 Academic Background

Prof. Lou began her academic journey with a Bachelor of Science in Ecology from Northeast Normal University (1998.09–2002.07). She then pursued her doctoral studies at the Northeast Institute of Geography and Agroecology, CAS, where she earned her Ph.D. in Environmental Science (2003.09–2008.06). Her advanced research training laid the foundation for a career dedicated to ecological restoration and environmental sustainability.

🧑‍🏫 Professional Experience

Her academic career has been closely associated with the Northeast Institute of Geography and Agroecology, CAS, where she has taken on progressive roles. Starting as a Research Assistant (2002–2006), she advanced to Assistant Professor (2006–2011), followed by her appointment as Associate Professor (2011–2019). Since December 2020, she has been serving as a full Professor, where she leads major research initiatives and supervises doctoral candidates in environmental science and ecology.

Prof. Lou’s primary research focuses on wetland vegetation ecology, particularly examining species diversity and the mechanisms by which plants adapt to environmental changes. Her work addresses critical issues in ecosystem dynamics, climate change response, and sustainable wetland management. Through field studies, data modeling, and cross-disciplinary approaches, she contributes to the scientific understanding of biodiversity conservation in sensitive ecological zones.

🌍 International Research Collaborations

Prof. Lou has enriched her expertise through international research experiences at leading institutions. From August 2017 to August 2018, she was a Visiting Scholar at the School of Biological Sciences, University of Aberdeen, UK. Earlier, she spent a year (2013–2014) at the Department of Plant Ecology and Evolution, Uppsala University, Sweden, and in 2012–2013, she conducted research at the National Wetlands Research Center, USA. These collaborations have played a crucial role in shaping her global perspective on plant ecology and wetland conservation.

🏅 Awards and Recognitions

Prof. Lou’s outstanding research has earned her several prestigious awards. She received the Second Prize of the Jilin Provincial Natural Science Award in 2023 (First Rank) for her study on the spatiotemporal dynamics of marsh vegetation in Northeast China. In 2020, she was honored with the First Prize of the Jilin Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award (Seventh Rank) for her work on wetland restoration technologies. Most recently, she was awarded the Second Prize of the Liangxi Forestry Science and Technology Award in 2024 (Seventh Rank) for her contributions to wetland restoration and community economic development.
