Dr. René Marie Price holds a B.S. in Geology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (1985), a M.S. in Environmental Sciences from the University of Virginia (1988), and a Ph.D. in Marine Geology and Geophysics from the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences, University of Miami (2001). Her diverse academic background has laid a strong foundation for her illustrious career in hydrogeology, marine sciences, and environmental research.

Dr. Price has been an integral part of Florida International University (FIU), holding several key administrative positions. Since 2023, she has been serving as the Associate Dean of the University Graduate School and Associate Vice President for Research and Economic Development. From 2020 to 2023, she contributed significantly as a Faculty Fellow in the Office to Advance Women, Equity, and Diversity. Dr. Price’s expertise extends beyond academia, with extensive professional experience in hydrogeology and environmental research. She has worked as a Hydrogeologist at ERM-South, Inc. (1993-1994), Harding Lawson Associates (1992), and Environmental Resources Management, Inc. (1988-1992). Her early career involved working as a Geologist at Hydrosystems, Inc. (1986) and Goldberg, Zoino, and Associates (1984-1985). These roles have enriched her understanding of groundwater systems, marine geology, and environmental sustainability.

Dr. Price’s outstanding contributions to geology and environmental sciences have earned her numerous accolades. She was named a Fellow of the Geological Society of America (2022) and inducted into Sigma Xi (2023). FIU has recognized her excellence with multiple awards, including the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education Award for Research (2020), Top Scholar for Significant Funding (2019), and Top Scholar for Significant Publication (2015).
