🎓 Academic Profile

Dr. MD. Ershad Halim completed his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Organic Synthesis & Supramolecular Chemistry from Kyushu University, Japan, in March 2015. His extensive research during this time focused on the synthesis of bromo- and ethynyl-substituted pyromellitic diimide-based macrocycles and their absorption spectra, electrochemical properties, and inclusion capabilities. Before pursuing his Ph.D., he obtained his Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Organic Chemistry from Dhaka University, securing 1st Class, 5th position in the Organic section in 1996 (held in 1998). He also earned his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Chemistry from Dhaka University in 1995 (held in 1997), graduating with 1st Class, 4th position.

Dr. Halim’s academic journey began earlier with his Higher Secondary Certificate (H.S.C.), where he secured 1st Division, ranking 16th position in the Jessore Board in 1992. He completed his Secondary School Certificate (S.S.C.) in 1989 from Barisal Zilla School, with 1st Division and ranked 20th in the Jessore Board.

🧪 Research Focus

Dr. Halim’s M.Sc. thesis focused on the reactions of diarrylidene-acetones with acyclic active methylene compounds, contributing to advancements in organic synthesis. His Ph.D. thesis further delved into the synthesis of bromo- and ethynyl-substituted pyromellitic diimide-based macrocycles, exploring their structural properties as molecular tubes and investigating their absorption spectra, electrochemical behavior, and inclusion properties. His research in supramolecular chemistry continues to play a significant role in expanding knowledge in the field.
