🎓 Educational Background

Prof. Dr. Juan Peng began her academic journey at Jilin University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry between September 1996 and June 2000. With a strong foundational interest in polymers and chemistry, she pursued her Ph.D. in Macromolecular Chemistry and Physics at the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, from September 2000 to June 2005. Her doctoral research, under the guidance of Prof. Yanchun Han, focused on “Micro/Nano-patterning of Thin Polymer Films”, laying the groundwork for her future contributions to polymer science.

🔬 Academic and Research Experience

After completing her Ph.D., Prof. Peng joined the prestigious Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Germany as a Postdoctoral Researcher from 2005 to 2007, working under the mentorship of Prof. Wolfgang Knoll. This postdoctoral tenure significantly enhanced her expertise in the molecular engineering of polymers. In 2008, she returned to China and joined the Department of Macromolecular Science at Fudan University as an Associate Professor, a position she held until 2017. Her dedication to research and academic excellence earned her a promotion to Professor in 2018, a role she continues to hold at Fudan University’s State Key Laboratory of Molecular Engineering of Polymers.

🔍 Research Interests

Prof. Dr. Juan Peng’s research is centered around several cutting-edge areas in polymer science. Her primary interests include the crystalline structures of conjugated polymers, which are essential for understanding the electronic properties of materials used in organic semiconductors. She is also deeply involved in the study of block copolymers, particularly focusing on their self-assembly behavior and nanostructuring. Another key area of her work involves polymer crystallization, where she explores how molecular interactions and processing conditions influence the morphology and performance of polymeric materials. Furthermore, she investigates the development and application of polymer semiconductors, aiming to enhance their use in flexible electronics and optoelectronic devices.

🧪 Current Role and Contributions

As a Professor at Fudan University, Prof. Peng continues to lead significant research initiatives and mentor students in the field of macromolecular science. Her work contributes to the advancement of sustainable materials, high-performance polymers, and functional thin films. Through her contributions, she plays a vital role in shaping the future of polymer engineering and materials chemistry in China and beyond.
