🎓 Educational Background

Dr. Murugan Arunachalapandi holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemistry from the Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, completed in 2023. His research focused on visible light-induced copper titanate photocatalysis for multicomponent reactions. Prior to this, he earned an M.Phil. in Chemistry from Madurai Kamaraj University in 2017, graduating with 84% marks. He also completed his M.Sc. in Chemistry from the same university in 2016, securing 69%, and his B.Sc. in Chemistry in 2014, with 67%, laying a strong academic foundation in chemical sciences.

🔬 Research Experience

Dr. Arunachalapandi has gained hands-on research experience through several academic projects. During his M.Sc., he completed a group project on the “Synthesis and Characterization of Zirconium Oxide Nanoparticles” under the guidance of Dr. N. Karuthapandian at Virudhunagar Hindu Nadars’ Senthikumara Nadar College. His M.Phil. work involved developing a “Heteropoly acid supported Montmorillonite K-10 nanocomposite for the synthesis of quinoxalines”, mentored by Dr. P. Sami. His doctoral research, conducted under Dr. S. Mohana Roopan at VIT, focused on visible-light photocatalysis using copper titanate to facilitate green synthetic pathways for multicomponent reactions—an emerging and impactful area of study.

🏆 Achievements

Dr. Arunachalapandi was recognized for his scientific contribution at the National Conference on Frontiers in Ecobiological Sciences and its Applications (FESA-2018) held at Periyar University, Salem. He received the Best Poster Presentation Award for his work titled “Synthesis of quinoxalines using HPW₁₂O₄₀ supported on MK-10 nanocomposite as catalyst”, reflecting the originality and significance of his research.

🧪 Technical Skills

Dr. Arunachalapandi is proficient in operating a wide range of advanced analytical instruments, including FT-IR, UV-DRS, XRD, FE-SEM, Photoluminescence, Zeta Potential Analyzer, Microwave Reactor, and handling GC-MS, HR-MS, and HPLC systems. These skills have enabled him to perform comprehensive material characterization and reaction monitoring with precision.

💻 Software Proficiency

He is well-versed in several chemistry-related software tools essential for data analysis and research documentation. These include Topspin (for ¹H and ¹³C NMR analysis), ChemDraw for structure drawing, Origin for interpreting spectral and analytical data, and ImageJ for imaging analysis. Additionally, he is skilled in X-pert High Score and Vesta for crystallographic studies, as well as QuillBot and AI tools for academic writing enhancement.
