His team is focused on antimicrobial peptides as a sustainable solution. The research primarily encompasses three key areas: First, they are mining new antimicrobial peptides from natural products and working to enhance their efficacy. Second, the team is investigating the mechanisms of antimicrobial peptides and their interactions with Staphylococcus aureus, a common and harmful bacteria in livestock. Lastly, they are working on developing high-expression systems using Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, lactic acid bacteria, and Pichia pastoris to achieve large-scale production of antimicrobial peptides. Dr. MD. Ershad Halim completed his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Organic Synthesis & Supramolecular Chemistry from Kyushu University, Japan, in March 2015. His extensive research during this time focused on the synthesis of bromo- and ethynyl-substituted pyromellitic diimide-based macrocycles and their absorption spectra, electrochemical properties, and inclusion capabilities. Dr. Varishetty Madhu Mohan holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, AP, India (2002–2007). His thesis, titled Studies in Thin Films – Investigations on Electrical Properties of Pure and Doped PEO Polymer Electrolyte Films for Solid-State Battery Applications, focuses on advanced materials for energy applications. He earned his M.Sc. (Tech) in Physics and Electronics from the same institution (1996–1999), securing second rank and completing a project on Street Light Illumination Control in collaboration with Amara Raja Batteries, Tirupati. Dr. Madhu Mohan’s academic journey began with a B.Sc. (1993–1996), where he majored in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
