🎓 Educational Background

Dr. Chunyan Chen pursued her Ph.D. in Chemical Safety Engineering and Technology at Sichuan University, Chengdu, China (2008–2013), where she was mentored by Prof. Zeyi Xiao. Her doctoral research laid a strong foundation for her contributions to the field of chemical safety. Prior to that, she completed her B.S. in Safety Engineering (2004–2008) from the same institution, showcasing her early dedication to the discipline.

🔬 Research Experience

Controllable Hydrogen Sensors (2023–2025)

Dr. Chen leads a project on the controllable construction of efficient room-temperature hydrogen sensors and their conformational relationship studies, supported by the Sichuan Provincial Science and Technology Department. This research focuses on improving hydrogen detection technologies, which are critical for safety in chemical and energy industries.

Innovative Foam Extinguishing Agents (2021–2023)

As the principal investigator, she explored the development of three-phase foam extinguishing agents with gel@particle technology, a novel solution for improving fire suppression systems. This project received support from the Sichuan Provincial Science and Technology Department.

Surfactant Production via Foam Separation (2018–2020)

Dr. Chen spearheaded research on the continuous production of surfactants by coupling foam separation with permeation vaporization fermentation. This project, supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, contributed to advancements in sustainable surfactant production.

Oil Recovery Microbe Mechanisms (2014–2016)

Her work on enhancing oil recovery microbes and their metabolites via PDMS membrane bioreactors was supported by the Open Fund of the State Key Laboratory of Oil and Gas Reservoir Geology and Exploitation. Additionally, she studied the product inhibition mechanisms of oil recovery microbes in collaboration with Southwest Petroleum University.

Continuous Fermentation System Research (2008–2013)

As a participant in a National Natural Science Foundation of China project, Dr. Chen contributed to groundbreaking research on ethanol production using a continuous and closed-circulating fermentation system. Her work enabled the successful construction of a fermentation system coupled with pervaporation, achieving continuous 500-hour operation and significantly improving ethanol and butanol concentrations.
