🎓Educational Background
Dr. Chang holds a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles, awarded in August 1989. His major was Solid State Electronics, with minors in Quantum Electronics and Circuit Design. His dissertation was titled “Studies of molecular beam epitaxially grown GexSi1-x/Si strained layer superlattice.” He also earned an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in August 1985 and a B.S. degree from National Cheng Kung University in June 1983.
🏢Professional Experience
Currently, Dr. Chang is a Chair Professor at NCKU (since August 2015) and serves as the Director of the Semiconductor Research Center at NCKU (since August 2008). He has held the position of Honorary Professor at Changchun University of Science and Technology in China since February 2002. Previously, he was a Professor at NCKU (1998-2015) and the Director of the Institute of Microelectronics (2008-2011). Dr. Chang has also been a Visiting Scholar at several prestigious institutions, including RWTH Aachen University in Germany, Waseda University in Japan, and the University of Tokyo.

Dr. Chang’s research focuses on Semiconductor Physics, Optoelectronic Devices, and Nanotechnology. His work in these fields has led to numerous publications and significant contributions to the scientific community.
🏆Awards and Honors
Dr. Chang has received several prestigious awards, including the Young Engineer’s Award from the Chinese Engineering Society in 1999, the Marubun Research Foundation Exchange Award in 2000, and the Outstanding Research Award from NSC/MOST, TAIWAN in 2004 and 2014. He was recognized with the Outstanding Professor Award by the Chinese Electrical Engineering Society in 2007 and the Technology Achievement Award from the IEEE Tainan Section in 2012. In addition, he received the Excellent Academic-Industry Collaboration Award from MOST in 2013 and has been honored as a SPIE Fellow (2013), OSA Fellow (2013), and IEEE Fellow (2014).
