My educational background includes completing primary education at the Primary School of KIREBE (1992 – 1999), followed by Ordinary Level studies at Musanze High School (2000 – 2003) and Advanced Level at APPEDI MARIE-REINE RWAZA (2004 – 2006). I earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics with Second Class Honours, Upper Division from the National University of Rwanda (NUR) (2008 – 2011). I further specialized with a Bachelor of Science Honours in Astrophysics and Space Science from the University of Cape Town (UCT) (2014), obtained a Masters in Physics from Rhodes University (RU) (2015 – 2017), and completed my PhD in Physics at the University of KwaZulu Natal (UKZN) (2019 – 2022).

From February 2012 to February 2014, I served as a Teacher of Natural Sciences at Musanze District, where I was responsible for teaching, invigilating, and marking physics exams, leading to a significant increase in student pass rates. I then took on the role of Tutorial Assistant of Physics at the Ruhengeri Institute of Higher Education (INES) from February 2014 to February 2017, where I ensured all students passed their modules through effective lecturing and exam preparation. At Regina Pacis Secondary School (September 2017 – September 2018), I prepared courses and marked exams, resulting in a student achieving the highest score in national examinations for the first time. From January 2018 to March 2019, as an Assistant Lecturer of Physics at the University of Kibungo, I ensured quality teaching and supervised student dissertations while participating in departmental meetings. Currently, since June 2022, I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at the South African National Space Agency (SANSA), where I conduct research, co-supervise students, and publish articles while also working as a forecaster in a Space Weather center.

🎓 Academic Work & Education

As of February 2024, I am an Assistant Professor in Food Hygiene and Control at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Benha University, Egypt. Since 2023, I have been a member of the Government Excellence Award Committee, overseeing initiatives for our faculty. In 2021, I became the Coordinator of the Biotechnology Incubator, where I manage sustainable biotechnological ideas. From 2020 to 2023, I served as an Instructor on the Biosafety Committee, conducting workshops for postgraduate students. I have been a Lecturer in the Food Hygiene and Control Department since January 2019, specializing in Dairy Hygiene and Control. Prior to this, I was a Research Student at Kagoshima University, Japan, from September 2016 to September 2018 under the Chunnel Scholarship. My academic journey began with various roles at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, culminating in my Bachelor of Veterinary Sciences in June 2009.

💻 Computer and Statistical Skills

I possess strong proficiency in computer skills, including IT management, word processing, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. I excel in data analysis using SPSS statistical software and have experience in image processing with Adobe Photoshop and the Protein Data Bank (PDB).

My professional development includes completing the Fundamentals of One Health Practice course in August 2024. I have attended various workshops on food safety measures, ISO standards, and communication skills funded by ERAS and USAID throughout 2024. Notably, I participated in a Researcher Academy workshop on scholarly communication in September 2023 and attended training on Biosafety Committee Establishment in September 2020.

🏆 Prizes and Patent

I hold Patent No. EG/P/2024/657 for the development of a novel method for extracting calcium from eggshells, awarded by the Ministry of Scientific Research Academy of Scientific Research & Technology in May 2024. My contributions were recognized with both the first and second prizes at the Benha University competition for innovative solutions in sustainability and recycling on May 19, 2024.

Ishioma completed her Ph.D. in Chemical and Environmental Engineering (2023) from the University of Nottingham, while simultaneously participating in a Doctoral Training Program in New Energy Materials at the Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences. She also holds an M.Eng. (2017) and B.Eng. (2012) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

Developing innovative conversion processes for biomass and polymeric carbon waste into functional materials with a focus on electrochemical energy storage applications, including supercapacitors, supercapattery, and batteries. Her work emphasizes creating porous materials to enhance energy storage capacity and efficiency.

Ishioma has a robust teaching background, serving as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China from 2020-2022, where she taught Chemical Process Simulation using Aspen Hysys. 🎓Educational Background

Dr. Chang holds a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles, awarded in August 1989. His major was Solid State Electronics, with minors in Quantum Electronics and Circuit Design. His dissertation was titled “Studies of molecular beam epitaxially grown GexSi1-x/Si strained layer superlattice.” He also earned an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in August 1985 and a B.S. degree from National Cheng Kung University in June 1983.

Currently, Dr. Chang is a Chair Professor at NCKU (since August 2015) and serves as the Director of the Semiconductor Research Center at NCKU (since August 2008). He has held the position of Honorary Professor at Changchun University of Science and Technology in China since February 2002. Previously, he was a Professor at NCKU (1998-2015) and the Director of the Institute of Microelectronics (2008-2011).
