He pursued his M.Sc. (Tech) from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, specializing in Physics and Electronics, from 1996 to 1999, and secured the Second Rank in his batch, earning the Sreemathi Suseela Sreeramamurthy Prize. His M.Sc. project, titled “Street Light Illumination Control”, was carried out at Amara Raja Batteries, Tirupati. Later, he completed his Ph.D. in Physics from the same university (2002–2007), with a dissertation titled “Studies in Thin Films – Investigations on Electrical Properties of Pure and Doped PEO Polymer Electrolyte Films for Solid State Battery Applications.”
🧑🏫 Teaching and Research Experience (20 Years)
Dr. Varishetty has accumulated over two decades of experience in teaching and research. Since June 2022, he has been working as an Assistant Professor in Physics at Mohan Babu University, Tirupati. Prior to this, he served as an Assistant Professor at IIIT Ongole Campus from July 2017 to June 2022. Between July 2015 and July 2017, he held the post of Associate Professor in Physics and R&D Coordinator (Humanities and Sciences) at S.V. College of Engineering, Tirupati. He was also an Associate Professor at Vemu Institute of Technology, Kothakota from August 2014 to May 2015. These roles reflect his commitment to teaching, mentoring students, and conducting academic research in physics and material science.
👨🏫 Early Teaching Experience (Before Ph.D.)
Before pursuing his Ph.D., Dr. Varishetty gained valuable teaching experience across various institutions. He began his career as a Lecturer at A.P. Residential Junior College, Gyarampalli (1999–2001), followed by positions at Narayana Junior College, Tirupati (2001–2002), Government Degree College, Nagari (2002–2004), and SPW Degree College, Tirupati (2004–2005). These roles helped shape his early academic philosophy and teaching methodology, particularly in Physics and Electronics.
🌐 International Research Experience (6.7 Years)
Dr. Varishetty has rich international research experience, which greatly enriched his academic and scientific exposure. From 2009 to 2014, he worked as a Senior Researcher at Shizuoka University, Japan, where his focus was on dye-sensitized solar cells and polymer gel electrolytes. Earlier, from 2007 to 2009, he served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Wuhan University of Technology, China, within the State Key Laboratory for Advanced Nano-material Synthesis. His work in China primarily involved lithium batteries, specifically composite polymer electrolyte films, and the synthesis of polymer surfactants and nanostructures of V₂O₅ and MoO₃. These international stints helped refine his skills in nanotechnology and electrochemical materials.
🏛️ Administrative Experience (3.7 Years)
Alongside his academic roles, Dr. Varishetty has held significant administrative positions. He served as the Associate Dean Academics at IIIT Ongole Campus, Idupulapaya, from July 2017 to July 2019. Subsequently, he was promoted to the role of Additional Dean Academics at the IIIT Ongole Campus, Ongole, from November 2019 to July 2021. His administrative leadership was instrumental in academic planning, student affairs, and faculty coordination, contributing to the institutional growth of IIIT Ongole.
