His doctoral thesis was titled “An investigation on removal of Hydrogen Sulfur using electrochemical technology: Utilization of power generation from MFCs as driving force towards electrochemical reactions.” He also earned an M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering from Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Iran and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Hamedan University of Medical Sciences, Iran.

Dr. Sanaei has extensive experience as a Researcher in Environmental Engineering, where he led and contributed to several innovative projects. As a Senior Research Fellow, he worked on developing Manganese-iron doped Chitosan-engineered coconut coil fiber biochar as an efficient catalyst for enhanced oxygen reduction in air-cathode microbial fuel cells. He also focused on improving power generation through the synthesis of hematite nanowire-arrays and the study of electron transfer via redox-active coconut biochar particles.

He served as a Project Assistant Level-II at the Tehran University of Medical Sciences Institute for Environmental Research, where he investigated mixed metal oxides/PVA/cellulose waste paper beads as adsorbents for the removal of ciprofloxacin and Yellow 17 dye from aqueous solutions. Additionally, as a Project Fellow, he contributed to environmental management in the Iranian Aluminum Company, Tehran. Since, he has been engaged in a project at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences focusing on nitrate and sulfate removal from aqueous solutions using Magnetite MAF-X27-Cl-OH, with particular emphasis on the effects of chloride and phosphate ions as interfering materials.
