Dr. MD. Ershad Halim completed his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Organic Synthesis & Supramolecular Chemistry from Kyushu University, Japan, in March 2015. His extensive research during this time focused on the synthesis of bromo- and ethynyl-substituted pyromellitic diimide-based macrocycles and their absorption spectra, electrochemical properties, and inclusion capabilities. Before pursuing his Ph.D., he obtained his Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Organic Chemistry from Dhaka University, securing 1st Class, 5th position in the Organic section in 1996 (held in 1998). He also earned his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Chemistry from Dhaka University in 1995 (held in 1997), graduating with 1st Class, 4th position.

He also worked as a Lecturer from May 5, 2005, to June 25, 2007. Before his tenure at Dhaka University, Dr. Halim contributed his expertise to various organizations. He worked as a Scientific Officer at the Institute of Glass & Ceramic Research & Testing (IGCRT) under the Bangladesh Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (BCSIR) from July 6, 2002, to May 4, 2005. He also served as a Quality Assurance Officer at Renata Pharmaceuticals Limited in 2002 and worked as a Research Assistant in the Organic Synthesis Research Laboratory at Dhaka University from October 12, 1999, to April 14, 2002. His international experience includes a position as a Visiting Researcher at Kyushu University, Japan, from November 5, 2007, to March 31, 2008.
