Prof. Luay Rashan began his academic journey with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in 1972 from the University of Mosul, Iraq, followed by a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in 1975 from the same institution. He then pursued his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in 1980 at the prestigious Trinity College, University of Dublin, in Ireland, specializing in biological sciences. 🔬 Post-Doctoral Research

Prof. Rashan enriched his academic and research profile through a series of post-doctoral fellowships across Europe and the Middle East. Between 1986-1987, he conducted research at the Department of Pharmacognosy and Drug Evaluation, Scientific Research Council, Baghdad, Iraq. This was followed by a year (1987-1988) at the Virology Department, Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield, UK. From 1989-1990, he pursued advanced studies in pharmacology at the Free University in Berlin, Germany. Later, during 2001-2002, he was affiliated with the Institute of Plant Biochemistry, Bio-organic Chemistry in Halle, Germany, where he focused on innovative research in plant-derived therapeutics.

Prof. Rashan began his professional career as a Research Assistant (1972-1975) in the Biology Department, University of Mosul. He progressed rapidly, serving as Assistant Lecturer (1975-1978), Lecturer (1978-1981), and ultimately becoming an Assistant Professor in 1985, before earning the title of Professor in 1991. Throughout his academic tenure, he played a pivotal role in shaping biological sciences education and research at the University of Mosul.

Prof. Rashan served as an external examiner for numerous postgraduate theses and played vital roles in academic administration. He was a member (1983-1988), then Chairman (1988-1992) of the Scientific Promotion Committee in the Department of Biology. Additionally, he served as Vice-Chairman (1983-1987) and later Chairman (1988-1992) of the Biology Department, demonstrating his exceptional leadership and organizational skills.

Beyond academia, Prof. Rashan has held influential positions in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. From 1992 to 1995, he worked as a Consultant in R&D at the Arab Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Company in Jordan. Since 1991, he has also been a Board Director at Al Rabee Private Hospital in Mosul, contributing significantly to healthcare delivery and strategic planning. He was a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Pharmacy, where he taught various subjects including Anatomy, Histology, Physiology, and Public Health. From 2003 to 2005, Prof. Rashan was appointed as the General Director of the Applied Company for Therapeutic Preparations in Amman, Jordan. Between 2007 and 2010, he was a Professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics at ASU.
