🎓Educational Background
Wenye Deng completed his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry at Lanzhou University in 2007 through a Direct Ph.D. Program, after obtaining his B.Sc. in Applied Chemistry from the same university in 2002. His academic journey laid the foundation for his expertise in the field of physical chemistry, which he has built upon throughout his professional career.
💼Professional Experience
Professor Deng has accumulated extensive experience in both academic and research positions. He currently serves as a Professor/Researcher at the Xinjiang Institute of Engineering since June 2022. Prior to this, he worked as a Researcher and Deputy Director at the Xinjiang Environmental Protection Science Research Institute from 2013 to 2022. His earlier work includes serving as an Associate Researcher at the Xinjiang Institute of Physics and Chemistry (CAS) and as an Assistant Researcher/Associate Researcher at the China Academy of Engineering Physics from 2008 to 2011. He also gained international experience as a Visiting Scholar at Louisiana State University (LSU) in 2017-2018, further enhancing his global research perspective.
🏅Honors and Positions
Professor Deng has received significant recognition for his contributions to science and technology. In 2022, he was awarded the Second Prize of Xinjiang Science and Technology Progress Award (fourth). He was also named a member of the Xinjiang “Tianshan Elite – Young Top Talent Program” in 2023, and received the Xinjiang Outstanding Young Scientist Fund in the same year. His other honors include the Xinjiang “Outstanding Young Scientific and Technological Talent” Training Project in 2018, the Xinjiang “Young Doctoral Science and Technology Talent Training Project” in 2013, and being a part of the Chinese Academy of Sciences “Western Light” Talent Training Plan in 2012.
In addition to these honors, Professor Deng holds leadership roles such as being a Committee Member of the Xinjiang Carbon Measurement Technology Committee (2023-2027) and serving as an Environmental Damage Judicial Appraiser from 2023 to 2028. He has also served as an Expert Consultant for the Xinjiang People’s Procuratorate and a National Environmental Public Welfare Litigation Technical Expert from 2021 to 2023.
🔬Research Projects
Professor Deng has been deeply involved in a variety of influential research projects, both nationally and regionally. These projects include the National Natural Science Foundation of China – Young Scientists Fund (2014-2016), and the National Natural Science Foundation of China – Regional Science Fund (2015-2018). He has also worked on the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Youth Fund (2013-2015) and led the Energy Conservation and Carbon Reduction Research Project of Xinjiang in 2024. His work continues to shape important research initiatives aimed at environmental protection and sustainable development.
