Dr. Prabir Pal earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the Institute of Physics (IOP), Bhubaneswar, under the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI) in 2008. His doctoral research, titled “Electron Spectroscopic Studies of Some Colossal Magnetoresistive Manganites,” focused on the synthesis, characterization, and electronic structure investigations of oxide CMR materials using photoelectron spectroscopy. Dr. Pal has extensive research and professional experience, including postdoctoral research at two prestigious institutions. At ƅngstrƶmlaboratoriet, Uppsala University, Sweden (2009–2011), he conducted independent research on spin-resolved ARPES at the I3 beamline at MaxLab. His responsibilities included supporting external users and maintaining the end station, which was equipped with advanced spectroscopy tools like Scienta R4000 analyzers and Group III-V MBE systems.

Prior to this, he worked at UniversitƤt Augsburg, Germany (2008–2009), focusing on thin-film growth using UHV techniques, photoemission experiments, and advanced spectroscopy. He also assisted in lab development and provided guidance to Ph.D. and Master’s students.

At CSIR-National Physical Laboratory (NPL), New Delhi, India, Dr. Pal held various positions from 2011 to 2019. As a Scientist (2011–2015), he focused on III-Nitride semiconductor materials under prestigious CSIR network projects such as TAP-SUN and D-NEED. Later, as a Senior Scientist (2015–2019), he designed innovative experiments for semiconductor device testing. Since 2019, Dr. Pal has been a Principal Scientist at CSIR-Central Glass & Ceramic Research Institute, Kolkata, India, researching layered structures and hybrid heterostructures. His current work focuses on integrating bulk semiconductors with 2D layered materials for optoelectronic sensing applications.
